One of my most recent passion projects was Crash Course Coding, which is a Saskatoon based, local coding class that aims to teach people how to write in HTML, CSS and Javascript code within two months. This course wasn't created to replace a full program, nor meant to make you into a professional in the languages, but rather as a guided first step into the world of coding.

HTML

HTML is one of the most used web coding languages in the world because it is a basic building block of creating a website. If you don't know how to write in HTML (hypertext markup language) or any of it's "equivalents", then you can't really make a proper, functioning website. By the time I'm done with you, HTML will be as easy as speaking English (or whatever your native tongue is)!

CSS

If HTML is a basic block of creating websites, CSS is the reason why we enjoy making websites. Not only does CSS make things look a hundred times better by adding color, arrangement and slight flourishes, it also lays down groundwork for a responsive website that works on all devices!

Javascript

You've probably heard the name of this language many times, and for good reason! It is one of the most versatile coding languages out there and is quickly becoming very popular with everyone, just that like that new, charismatic kid back in highschool. Javascript adds interactivity to your websites in so many ways. We won't be able to completely pick it apart during our time together, but you'll learn enough that you can understand how it works!

JQuery

While this seems like a fourth language to learn on top of the other three, jquery is simply javascript at it's core. It's purpose is deceptively simple: To help you with DOM traversal (if you have no idea what this means, come to class!). Of course it has some nice extra features which we'll take advantage of during class.
